Introduction to the Network

We’d like to make a lasting, multi-sensory kind of community that is not content to simply take pictures of flowers in exchange for ‘likes.’ We are concerned with soil & water & air, birdsong & footprints & the opportunity they afford for a more careful kind of language. Yes our network lives on the internet but it reaches out to make space for tactile experience, inclusive listening, and a myriad of new voices.

Who it’s for.

For curious people who seek to learn and grow alongside others. For specialists who might find inspiration from other specialists. For wanderers who see possibilities in less traveled paths.

Where we are going.

We are sharing resources, developing a glossary together. We are sharing the news of artists and nature and their coming together and creating a forum for talking about what we’ve learned.

What we are doing.

We see the network growing into a place where mentors develop courses, learners to share discoveries, expeditions begin, important conversations evolve, & members become co-creators.

Testimonials from our Members

“I’m very happy to be part this group, it is definitely helping me to question and move forward in my journey and making. I am finding confidence and affirmation in my work knowing others see the world through similar eyes. To be honest I thought it was just me! Little did I know … !” — Tracie, maker

“… this way of being and knowing and visioning is not something I've been able to share with others consistently in my life, … seeing the development of this group felt like a call.” — Shayna, writer

“I am here to share thoughts with like minded people as our US is in a state of turmoil and disruption. Being in Nature is a natural solace  and it is comforting to hear how others feel about this relationship.” — Marlana, artist

“ "‘never assume’ is a wonderful rule i follow as an herbalist. really seeing encourages you to pay attention & as mary oliver reminds us so eloquently. Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” — miss polly, herbalist

Our community is hosted on Mighty Networks (we provide a guide for navigating this platform for those who are new) - accessible from a computer browser and an app on your phone - our online forum that you can carry in your pocket is far less noisy than Facebook and much slower paced than Instagram - not driven by likes and follower numbers, it has meaningful exchange at its heart.

  2. Discussion prompts for deep-dive discovery through peer-to-peer dialogue. You can look forward to seasonal themes, weekly focus questions and daily discussions you can dip in and out of.

  3. Create your own courses and Events. Our online platform has built-in courses and events. Not only searchable by location, but you can also create and promote your own if you wish. “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

  4. A unique creative learning environment, our network and its content will keep evolving in response to our needs in these dynamic times we’re living. Together we can stretch the boundaries of what an online forum can be that is shaped by each members’ contribution.

Current Projects and Initiatives

  • Our current seasonal theme is MAPS. These are the overarching themes that we look at from many different angles throughout a season. We host live virtual discussions on Zoom, share resources and inspiration we find as well as our own experiences reflecting on the questions we ask exploring the theme (see images above).

  • The Practice of Sensing: a self-led journey of creative observations made every 3 days, documented in an artist journal - make your own and read others.

  • A growing glossary of words and phrases that appear in our exchanges within the Network. All members can contribute to this resource that will grow in depth and breadth overtime.

  • Open Forum zoom discussions - imagining the future of the network together

  • Dialogues with Nature Encyclopaedia - an exploration archiving emerging thoughts, findings and creativity within the network thematically for future reference, a curated collection of topics generated through conversations within our network in response to our seasonal themes.

Dialogues with Nature Network is currently open to receive new members to join. Please sign up to our mailing list below if you wish to receive news from us periodically.
